Engaging With Local Government
Human Ecology and Public Health students ventured to Worcester's City Hall, where they participated in a simulated City Council meeting. After studying the safety initiatives of major cities, they debated whether the City of Worcester should reduce its speed limit to 25 mph to enhance pedestrian and vehicular safety.
An engaging Q&A session with Worcester’s longtime mayor, Joe Petty, gave students a firsthand look at the inner workings of local governance and civic leadership.
