Our  Campus

Communal And Urban, Historical And Modern, Local And International

Our campus sits in the center of Worcester, Massachusetts—a vibrant, diverse, and thriving city that offers rare access to academic, cultural, and personal growth experiences that shape who our students become and how they see the world.

A Legacy Of Learning

Established in 1834, Worcester Academy is the first independent school founded in Worcester, Massachusetts. Our storied history and time-honored traditions live on in the halls of landmark buildings like Walker Hall, the Capozzoli Family Megaron, Adams, Kingsley, and the Warner Theater, which are all part of the National Register of Historic Places.

Spaces That Foster Connection And Growth

The quintessential campus Quad is the epicenter of school life. It’s where Middlers enjoy recess, Upper Schoolers toss frisbees, and students of all ages connect between classes. The Quad also hosts milestone moments like Orientation, Commencement and Reunion.

Worcester Academy’s many academic and residential buildings surround the Quad for a college-like setting that gives even our youngest students a sense of freedom and independence as they traverse campus. From everyday activities to special events, the Quad continues to be a dynamic space that brings our community together.

Investing In Our Students And Our Future

While we cherish our historic campus and storied past, we are also investing in our future. Exciting enhancements are underway for 2025, including New Balance Performance Park — a transformative project that will serve as the gateway to the Worcester Academy campus and unite our community.

When completed, the park will signal our unwavering commitment to providing a uniquely relevant educational experience for every student — one that is rooted in our rich history, informed by our urban campus, and catalyzed through investments in our people and infrastructure.

The Capozzoli Athletic Center at New Balance Performance Park will feature a 6000 square-foot fitness center, 3 basketball courts, and a 6-lane pool. It will also include The Bernan Community Room—a space devoted to our long-standing tradition of connection and collaboration with our Worcester neighbors.

Campus Safety

Ensuring students and staff feel secure on campus is our top priority. These are just some of the ways we honor that commitment:

  • 24/7 monitoring by officers patrolling on foot and by car.
  • Access to academic buildings and residence halls is limited by key card access.
  • Shuttles and escorts are available at various access points throughout campus.
  • An emergency alert system is available throughout campus grounds.
  • Annual fire and safety drills prepare students, faculty, and staff for any potential crisis scenarios.
